My connection to KMJ
My grandma got my grandpa this mahjongg game in 2006 for $20 and he's played it every week since then. My grandparents live next door to me so I grew up going next door and my grandpa would be sitting at his computer right when I walked in playing mahjongg or the slider puzzle.
I am only 4 years older than the 2006 version of the game, the original KMJ is actually 5 years older than me, but my grandpa has always played KMJ 2006.
Why I made this site
I was watching a Shunks video where she asked if this MLP browser puzzle game is a knock-off of a real game to let her know in the comments, and it reminded me of the Slider game from the mahjongg game my grandpa always plays.
So I had it on the brain, and was looking it up, and I realized that the menu fits in so well with webcore stuff. So I had fun building a page that resembles the menu for KMJ along with the cute anime/manga girl featured on it.
I also had a lot of fun looking around at the other stuff the creator has made. I was looking up Naoki Hada and found out it's the pen name for the creator, and he's got lots of stuff hanging around under that name and also Cyber Namida. Look around for stuff that's still up and also on the Wayback machine for a fun time.
Playing KMJ
If you want to play and not just the free shareware demo, email me and I can share with you my information, or you can follow the instructions to purchase a license on the Cyna Games website.
In my opinion, if you want the True Cannon Expierence, play with the Smooth interface skin, Classic background, Easy tiles, and Colors stones. I think the correct sound effects are the default. I have more fond memories of the sound effects for making matches (flashcard aah noise), impossilble moves (aep!), and the out of moves harmonica, because my grandpa would never play with the music on.
Music on this site
I recently found the soundtrack and I love me some midi so I have included a player on my site for the midi songs included in the soundtrack. Click the Music button to toggle the player visibility. You might have to click the pause button once before stuff starts to play.
Code on this site
Guys I got JavaScript to work! I even wrote some of my own code!! But as usual everything has horrible markup and is formatted backwards and in strange ways. At least the page works. At least for me. I hope the page works correctly for everyone else...
Todo for this site
Things I might add to this page:
- Buttons to change to different backgrounds
- Having everything on one page so the music keeps playing? or at least one page for the home and about and one page for the demo
- Have it so you can click and drag the menu around the screen (like in the game), this would be after I can get everything onto one HTML file I think...
- Add in the rest of the program? Like the menu bars and stuff. I miss the teal stripe at the top of the screen when I look at the page I made :(
